I heart weekends

The boys side of the table and the girls side of the table @ Doc Crows

I don't intend to have a weekend only blog.  Monday-Thursdays are filled with lots of fun too.  But weekends are SO much fun!

This weekend did not disappoint-  Friday started with an awesome day at work- I was made project manager for a small study we're doing and we had a conference call with key players in the study.  I get a rush from group study planning!  Then we were taken to lunch to discuss "business" ;)  The afternoon flew by with another group meeting to discuss another study.  When we finished the last meeting I looked and the time and could not believe it was past 5 and WAY past time to go home!  I'm only part time now so I have to stay under a certain amount of hours.

I raced home and freshened up to go with Miranda to a Bourbon 101 class.  It was extremely informational and neat.  I know more about bourbon then I dreamed possible! After our class we met up with Deedee/Josh and Jenna/Jared at our favorite, Doc Crows.  We had a fun night and hung out there for awhile.

Saturday I was at PB all morning- took 8:30 and then taught 2 classes after that.  Then Jenna, Miranda, Amanda and I went on a nice walk to Cherokee Park! It was such a beautiful day to be out so I was so happy we went.

Sunday we churched it and then I did house chores...

Moral of the story we are living in a joyful and fruitful season of life right now.  My prayer is that I would still seek and praise Christ for what he did on the cross, not just his abundant blessings right now.  I do however feel that sensing true joy in Christ through his blessings, is pleasing... Joyful I am!

Pure Barre

When I began my new job at USWorld Meds and left working the desk at Pure Barre, I was afraid that the "family" I had created at Pure Barre wouldn't be there.  But it SO hasn't.  I'm teaching 4-5 times a week and taking 3-4 times a week and the family atmosphere has stayed.  Wednesday after I taught the 7:15 class, a few of my favs and I went to grab a drink at a local restaurant. I had so much fun watching everyone getting to know each other.  I love all of these women and am so glad that they all loved each other.  Each of us are from pretty different walks of life: teacher, surgeon, students, moms of 5 (ya one of these girls has birthed and is mother to 5 kids!), and much more.  Thankful these women are in my life and thankful for all the fun and love they bring into my life.

Love them!
I taught Tracy's first class and Wednesday I taught her 100th class! So neat.

Weekend

The past two weekends have been such a blast!

Last weekend:
Friday night we went to the Silver Dollar with 2 Couples from Chris's Class.  Both of which live in our complex.  Becca and Jake actually live across the hall from us!  It was long over due that we all go to dinner.  Silver Dollar was AWESOME.  It's a new restauraunt that has opened up next to us.  It's a very comfortable swanky, southern atmosphere but set in an old barn and with old big colored Christmas lights hung around the place.  The food was southern and a bit of Mexican.  Chris had Chicken and waffles and I had an opened faced blackbean/cheese/pico de gillo sandwich. YUM!  I loved getting to know Becca and Katie.

Saturday I taught PB in the morning and then went to get coffee with a friend Jamie.  I love meeting friends one on one for coffee.  The Lord blessed our time together so much I feel.

That night we went to dinner with another couple friend, Paul and Miranda.  I met miranda at Pure Barre and she and Paul are fellow surgeons here for a fellowship.  Miranda and I clicked immediately and all 4 of us together really had a great night.  We had no idea where we wanted to go for dinner but we got in the car and started driving. Bistro 1860 had just opened up about 1/2 mile from our condo.  We could NOT have asked for a better place to spend the evening.  There was a long wait for a table but they offered for us to go upstairs to a lounge and it was great.  Comfy couches, chic but warm atmosphere and just a great all around vibe.  There menu has the option for small medium and large portions so we made it a tapas kind of night.  It was YUM! Lobster hush puppies, es cargo, pork tacos, yummy salads.. it was all dish-licking good! The drinks were perfect and last but not least, dessert was heavenly.  We had homemade eclairs, chocolate dipped peanut butter cookies, chocolate mouse and a few others.  We had a great night with them!

Sunday I worked the nursery and then we came home and did NOTHING all afternoon/evening! Perfection!

This weekend:

Friday night we went on a date night! We went to Olive Garden (their commercials got us and we were craving it!) and then went to see Les Miserables.  It was a great night for the 2 of us.  I love spending time with Chris!

Saturday I taught 2 Pure Barre classes.  We had a blast! The 9:35 class had our National Ambassador, Lauren come visit and the 11:15 class had 27 clients! LOVE the energy in those classes!

After Pure Barre, I went to Taylors to celebrate her birthday!  Juli and Liv were over too.  Good friends, champagne, home made chocolate cake and comfy cow ice cream make for a perfect afternoon.

After Taylors, we came home and I made some YUMMY cookies and cream brownies (which I didn't take a pic of but should have) and went to my new bosses house to watch the Packers game.  It was my first time hanging out with work people outside of work and it was seriously the best.  Kristen's little sister graduated from UofL dental school last year so she had some friends over too that chris loved talking with.  The whole night was so much fun and it verified how much I love Kristen.  She's a B*A in the office but is such a fun, chill and happy person!

This morning I worked nursery at church. Love loving on some 18 month olds!  Now it's rainy and getting cold so I'm enjoying some R&R.

Happy Sunday!

First Class

Today was my first day of the class, Cancer Biology.  It is my last class for my masters and as of now, my last class I'll take forever.

Anyways, it was an awesome lecture.  The director of the Brown Cancer Center, Dr. Miller, gave the lecture.  It was an overview of cancer: causes, history of the research, treatments and the future of treatments.  The things the cancer center are doing is just awesome. They have a streamlined process for researchers that have a specific therapy target.  It includes a computer system with computers in high schools in KY screening millions of different agents to find matches for the specific target program.  Not only are they able to find the agent, but the schools that house the computers attract students to the science field.  These high schools are in the rural Western Ky.   Another cool thing the Cancer center is involved in is finding a cheaper HPV vaccine for third world countries.  As it is now, most families in India, sub-Saharan Africa and Central America can not afford this vaccine.  And they are basing the research out of Owensborough,  another rural KY community.

In the past ten years, since Watson and Crick discovered DNA's structure was the double helix, the cure for cancer has much more quickly come in reach and hearing Dr. Miller talk about all of the fabulous work being done by all the brilliant minds at work was inspiring.

Thankful to be allowed the education I have and to hear lectures like this.

Mom and Hal came for my Birthday!
And lots more!  2012 was a year full of weddings and love.

Here's a fun questionaire I got from Kelly's Corner:

1. What are you most thankful for?

2. What were the highlights of 2012 for you?

3. What are you hoping for in 2013?

4. What were some of your favorites of 2012? (Clothes, movies, songs, TV shows, )

5. Who was God to you in 2012? (and if He was nothing to you - please be honest. You don't need to give sunday school answers. I want to be able to pray that He will be something to you this year!)

So here are my answers:
1.  I am most thankful for marrying Chris.  I never imagined marrying such a wonderful, fun, smart, caring and responsible man!

2.  The highlights are listed above.

3.  In 2013 I am hoping to
-Graduate with my Masters in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
-Learn to me a little more organized and clean
- Take a few fun trips with Chris
- Continue to grow the friendships the Lord has blessed me with

4.  My favorites: Tunics, Lululemon, all Pure Barre playlists, Revenge, New Girl, Homeland, Smash,

5.  The Lord was my savior.  The one who came and paid my debt so that I could have a relationship with Him and eternal life.  He was the source of my great many blessings!

2012 seriously was the most happy, joyful and fun year I've had!  Can't wait to bring in 2013 :)

Beach in December

So Friday, Chris left for a bachelor party in Orlando, so I had 2 days to entertain myself.  The first day I drove over to Tampa and hung out with Lindsay for the day.  I dropped annabelle off at her house  She has 3 other small dogs so Annabelle was in heaven!  Lindsay and I had the perfect day! We went to lunch at a cute local restaurant, she drove me to St. Pete and showed me around her work.  She's a nurse at the all children's hospital in St. Pete and from the looks of it, it doesn't get any better than that!!  Then I took her to a Pure Barre class!! It's always nerve wracking taking friends to PB for the first time, but Linds was a champ and I think she loved it.

After that, I drove down to Ponce Inlet beach which is south of Daytona Beach to meet my dad, his fiance Susan and her kids Catherine and Ethan.  I got there late Friday night so we only had time to hang out and talk for a bit.  The next day we woke up to a cloudy, chilly day.  Dad talked me into a morning run and by the time we were done, the sun had come out and it was a beautiful, sunny and warm day.  We spent the day on the beach laying out in the sun! I finished my Nicholas Sparks book, The Best of Me.  OMGosh it was awesome!!!  Catherine and I went on a long walk and it was so nice getting to talk with her.

When we were sunned out, we came in, showered and went to dinner.  It was a lovely beach vacation and I'm thankful I was able to have it!

My friend for the day
Waiting for dinner!
Dad saying goodbye

Pure Barre Christmas Party

It was the absolute best night:
All the Pure Barre instructors/owners + our handsome dates + yummy food + gorgeous house + good drinks = Perfect night.

It was so much fun to have all the instructors together.  We always see each other 1 or 2 of us at a time but tonight it was everyone together!

Em and Jan! Love them!
Tiny Tara :)

Such a fun, loving group of women!

Love!
